As a successful learning professional and instructional designer for the past 17 years for an international company, I’ve had every advantage and opportunity to grow my skills. It also means that the innovative training solutions I’ve created are proprietary. So, I’m taking an Agile approach to creating my public portfolio; this is the current MVP (minimum viable product), which I will update iteratively.

Creative design is beautiful, inspiring, and thought provoking.
Instructional Design is creative design that:
- Incorporates adult learning principles, keeping the learner as the focus.
- Requires thorough needs analysis to identify gaps and determine objectives.
- Is engaging, interactive, accessible, and written in clear, concise language based on the audience.
- Improves performance, leading to happy and successful employees, which leads to happy and successful companies.
- Is always changing and improving to meet the needs of individuals, teams, and the company.
I’m a certified Instructional Designer with a proven track record for creating innovative learning solutions that increase employee performance, enhance the employee experience, and lead to organizational excellence.

How Serendipity Led to the Career I Love
The biggest change that led to my career as a learning professional happened in 8th grade when my Mom signed me up to be a junior counselor with the Girl Scouts. I realized how much I love helping people and what an exceptional organizer and teacher I was. So much so that staff and parents would ask if I planned to be a teacher when I grew up. While my imagination had other plans for me, after trying out many different jobs after college, I realized that the common thread in all of them remained my desire to help others and teach people.
Ultimately, I ended up in a teaching type role as a Learning & Development Consultant (LDC) with Wells Fargo. Being an LDC didn’t just satisfy my deep desire to share my skills and knowledge with other people; it also gave me an opportunity to leverage other skills that had lain dormant for quite some time, such as my joy for writing and my eye for design and artistic endeavors.
My love of writing and design led me to delve deeper into instructional design and content creation as an LDC until eventually I decided to take some graduate courses in design at Metro State University – St. Paul, MN. Then, I became an Instructional Designer where my skills flourished.
My greatest joy as an Instructional Designer is twofold:
- Creating exceptional instructional materials that help learners have more satisfaction in their job because they can understand and execute it better.
- Sharing my skills and knowledge through onboarding, coaching, and consulting with other learning professionals, management, SMEs, and stakeholders.
As a learning professional, my goal follows the common ethos about constantly improving yourself so that you can give back to others: lead yourself, lead the team, lead the business. I adhere to this ethos because I believe it’s what brings about the greatest success and happiness for individuals and the company.
